Upcoming Films

Preview last night of Prisoners
Fantastic, suspense movie with great acting and story line.  Discussions will be held all over regarding the content of this film.  Should they, shouldn't they, will they won't they, what was that ending about????

Again,  just like Captain Phillips (Tom Hanks film due out in Oct0 Rate this film a 9 out of 10.  A couple of the scenes went on a little too long (gory and bloody), but for the most part the twists and turns keep you guessing until the very end.  A must see on your list of films for the fall.

Blue Jasmine is a good film and Cate Blanchet is a wonderful character actor.  As she talks to herself in the film, you will find you want to talk about her when you leave the theater.  Rate this a 7 out of 10.

The Family

A Mafia boss and his family are relocated to a sleepy, insular French village after ratting out the mob.  “The Family” stars Robert DeNiro as reformed mob boss Fred Manzoni who wants to change his life, but has difficulty staying in line with the witness protection program.

The Manzonis are completely out of their element in rural France. They ultimately revert to their old habits, handling their problems the “family” way.  After a store clerk criticizes her French-American accent, the hot-tempered Mrs. Manzoni, played by Michelle Pfeiffer, burns down a local grocery store.

Despite the best efforts of an irritable CIA Agent (played by Tommy Lee Jones) to keep the family safe, the Manzonis cannot help but regress to their old ways and eventually blow their cover. Ultimately their former mafia ‘associates’ track them down and send over goons to take them out of commission.

The action comedy, “The Family” was written and directed by Luc Besson (“The Professional,” “The Fifth Element” and “La Femme Nikita.”) Starring along side Robert DeNiro and Tommy Lee Jones, are Michelle Pfeiffer who plays DeNiro’s wife, Maggie, and Dianne Agron (of Glee) and John D’Leo, who play their children.

Captain Phillips

Hi all
Been away for the summer but have been posting updates as I have traveled across the US.  Found some great movies and some really bad movies.  Amazing what people will produce.

Coming up:
Saw a PREVIEW of Tom Hanks new film CAPTAIN PHILLIPS.  It was fantastic, very suspenseful, well acted and overall highly entertaining.  I have decided to rate films from the audience point of view as well as a critics.  The audience was into the movie, the suspense and the story.  I thought it might be a little long and there were some places where the film could have been trimmed especially the lifeboat scenes.  Tom Hanks was outstanding and very beliveable as the captain of a captured ship.  Give it a nine out of 10.  Be sure to put it on your list of fall films to see.
